EMS Hubs

BBEF has just launched EMS Hubs for businesses and organisations interested in environmental management. EMS Hubs meet for informal networking over lunch for an hour once every quarter.

Come along, bring lunch money and:

  • Get to know other local environmental managers and champions

  • Talk about current problems and successes with others who understand the landscape

  • Get supportive ideas and suggestions

  • Enjoy a nice lunch with some interesting and friendly people

Hubs are for organisations of all sizes and sectors. Whether your environmental management is formal or ad hoc, networking with others will help you develop your ideas, improve your environmental performance and save money.

At our first trial Hub meeting in Bradford, Yorkshire Building Society, Interface Flor and Xiros turned up to talk about everything from waste disposal contractors to new regulations, combined heat and power systems and site management for biodiversity.

Hub discussions will respond to the interests of whoever comes along.

Current Hub Dates & Locations

September – Bradford Hub

This lunch is for our Bradford based members. Our initial lunch in Bradford in June 2011 was a fantastic networking opportunity with Xiros, Yorkshire Building Society and Interface Flor swapping hints and tips on waste contract tendering, biodiversity managment and combined Heat and Power systems. We expect more great discussions in September.

October – M62 Hub

Following feedback from members we're switching our Wakefield hub meetings to a location just off the M62. As many of our members from this area are based in suburbs rather than city centres, this will make sure Hub meetings are accessible with minimal travel time.

August – EMS Hub Meeting, Leeds

This lunch is for our local members in the Leeds district. Our first meeting saw a friendly bunch of contacts from Arup, Metro, Xiros and Fading Footprints meet up to talk about how to influence your organisation to make change happen, to discuss the pros and cons of LED lighting and to eat some of Leeds' best brownies.

December – Bradford Hub

We may make this a Christmas special and go somewhere extra nice for lunch. We'll be taking soundings and suggestions from members over the next few months.

More hub locations may follow and will be driven by demand. You can attend as few or as many hub meetings as you like, in whichever locations are convenient to your schedule.
To see who you might meet at EMS Hubs, take a look at our list of current members.
